What to avoid if you want optimal Lash Retention

When you get your lashes done, not only are you taking time to come in and get pampered and glammed up with your gorgeous lashes, but you also leave with the hope of wanting them to last as long as possible before the next fill right? We want that for you too! We understand you’re taking time and money to come see us, and we are so grateful for that, and want to share with you some things you can do to help keep those lashes staying in place and have as long of a lash retention as possible. The following are some ways or things to avoid to if you want longer lash retention:

Lash Growth Serums

Lash growth serums do what they do: stimulate lash growth. By applying this to your lashes it makes the lashes grow faster and therefore your lash cycle speeds up and your lashes fall out much faster. If you want lash extensions, it’s best to stay away from growth serums while you have the extensions.

Exercising too Early

Don’t get us wrong, exercising is great. But, if you do it too early after getting your lashes done, they can fall out much quicker because of how the salt can dry out the newly-applied adhesive. It needs time to dry and set. We recommend waiting at least 24 hours to workout after getting your lashes done, then after that, you should be good to go! And this leads us into our next tip:

Not Cleaning Your Lashes

We talk about this a lot because it’s super important for lash retention and to keep your lashes looking their best. Especially after working out or wearing makeup, its essential that you cleanse your lashes. By not doing so, you are inviting build-up and salt to get on your lashes and breakdown the adhesives holding the lashes onto your lashes. We have an awesome lash cleanser that does an amazing job and that we highly recommend.

Oil-Based Makeup

Like I said when I talked about cleansing your lashes, oil-based makeup makes it really easy for the adhesive to breakdown, especially oily eyeliner since it’s right next to your lash extensions. Also, stay away from mascaras while you have extensions. This can also breakdown your lashes and is very harmful for your lashes. We recommend you stay away from it entirely.
